Thoughts behind the artwork...

As so many of us look to politicians and news channels for direction on how we should think and what we should believe, there is a very subtle dissolution of the spirit from the mind. This has been taking place gradually for many years. Ignorance is now celebrated over unity. Cruelty and deceit are valued more than honor and kindness. Lies become truths. The effects of this dissolution can be found almost everywhere. What of decency? Kindness? Respect? While these virtues are still possessed by many... the cancer of spiritual dissolution manifests in the form of rampant ignorance that can be seen everywhere we look.

This image is based upon a dream that I had years ago. I am not a man of the world. Nor have I walked among the many people of this planet. As such, I cannot see if this is happening in places other than the United States. Having said that, I have an almost instinctual feeling that at least on some level, this dissolution of spirit is beginning to happen all over our world. I hope to be wrong of course. In my dream, I was an observer to a strange and frightening scene. Mysterious figures from all over the world stood at attention... eyes forcused on something that I myself simply could not see. As the mysterious figures rigidly stood in place, the eyes of each suddenly became vacant and I could see their spirits leaving them as they stood before me. The departing spirits appeared to dissolve... almost like alka seltzer in a glass of water. What remained were dull eyed husks of people.

I had forgotten this dream until recently. Once again, the dream was many years ago. Sometimes I feel compelled to capture these images. Thank you for looking. As always, any thoughts are appreciated.
