Thoughts behind the artwork...

When I began this image, I had one question in mind... what the hell is WRONG with us? This is a question that I have been asking myself for the majority of my life. As a race, we have been gifted with the abilities and intelligence to become the dominant species on this planet. Yet... for some reason we are the LEAST harmonious of all life forms. Throughout our entire history, we have been guilty of all manner of ills against each other and the planet we live upon. As a species, we routinely commit atrocities against the earth and ourselves. Thus the question... what the hell is WRONG with us?

Warfare. Violence. Greed. Hate. It's just human nature... right?

WHY is it "human nature"? Why do we only see this in our species? I have to wonder... if you really break it down... all the way down to the fundamental building blocks... could it be that there is something essential missing in the basic code of what makes us human? Why is it human nature to commit atrocities? Why is it human nature to hate? Why is it human nature to look down upon another because they look different... think different... worship different... or love different?

Break it down. All the way down. I think there must be a very real, ever present Subatomic Cerebral Malaise... something wrong with the fundamental code that we cannot quite figure out.
