Thoughts behind the artwork...

Imagine if you will, living life day by day, always believing in yourself. Confident in your ideals and perceptions, you act with a sense of conviction, and you believe your actions are just. Now, imagine if you will, looking into The Mirror of Truth and finding that you have become something completely alien to what you believed yourself to be. Imagine if you will, the discovery that you have been deceived and manipulated your entire life. Yet, it was always your own choices and actions that wapred you into the disgusting thing gazing back at you.

First, the shock hits and all that you can do is stare at the true nature of what you have become. Then, realization of all that you have done numbs you to the very core. Paralyzed by the alien horror looking back at you from The Mirror of Truth, you know that you must choose what path you will take moving forward. Will you make amends and change? Or, will you remain on the same path and become an even uglier version of self? Much like everything else, the choice will be yours and nobody elses.

The inspiration behind this image is multi-faceted. As a result, it can be interpreted many ways, all of wich are correct. What an image means to you personally does not have to have any relation to what it may mean to me or anybody else for that matter. Back to what I was going to say. One of the main inspirations was that of an addict who has finally begun to see themselves clearly for the first time. All too many of us will relate. However, another inspiration shaped the creation of this. That being my hope that many of the people who embrace the terrible things happening in this country will find themselves gazing into The Mirror of Truth and be shocked by what they see in themselves. It is my hope that such a shock will inspire change for the better.

Peace be with us all.
