Another very deep... and intriguing image, John. The old addage,
"Familiarity breeds contempt", has always struck me as being sage advice....
and it usually is... but only in relationships that are 'surface
breathers'... those shallow, short-lived attractions that are simply
that... infatuations with the "idea" of a certain person while fluttering
around in a desperate dance to avoid finding out who (or what) they really
are ...
Soul mates... on the other hand... ride out familiarity like the softest feather pillow... a place... a body... a friend... a lover... that you can fall into and never feel an abrupt or disapproving fold... Fabulous imagery, my friend... :-) -Helen Grainge
I find the concept of 'soul mates' quite intriguing. In my minds eye I
envision soul mates as those who are able to see through all of the
artificial, superficial trappings that each and every one of us possess...
to see the other for who they really are. They get past what we wear,
how we look, how we carry ourselves, how we act from one person to
the next... soul mates see through all of it.
I envision one soul mate looking at the other and seeing right through
them, right to the heart of their being, right to the spirit, right to the
soul. I imagine soul mates as people who in time become transparent
to each other. I believe that those who are searching for a soul mate are
also searching for transparency... of self.
