Interpretations...Yours and Mine

Not absurd so much as painfully real. If you've ever had the misfortune to encounter a mirror while you were in the throes of unspeakable grief, you've seen this already. Why is it that people say, "She's so beautiful when she smiles" and yet turn away when the psyche crumbles and the face follows suit? I know why... it's because heartache is only a heartbeat away for all of us... and we prefer to ride on the coat tails of joy... no matter how rough and ready the gait. John... my friend... you always manage to bring it home... here's my hat; it's off to you ...
