Chapter two: The Lady
As the old crow approached our young lark another lark was gliding gracefully through the brilliant morning sun. She was a beautiful young lark who turned the heads of every male who chanced upon her. It was for this very reason that she flew a little farther away from her normal territory each day. She just could not bear to be around any longer.
This young lark was very sad indeed. Her beauty was marred by a tragic look she could not seem to wipe from her pretty face. Everyday she tried to convince herself that she would be all right. Everyday she would wander a little farther from her home because her pain was so great. You see, she had a broken heart.
She grew up normally with the others in her family. She played with the other larks and had plenty of friends. But there was one lark in particular that she spent most of her time with. He was her one and only true love, had been from the time that they were chicks. Everywhere he went she would follow. What he liked she liked. They seemed inseparable.
When it was time to choose a lifelong mate her eyes were full of only him. But on that day her heart was shattered forever. Her one and only true love had chosen another mate. How could he have done this to her? She approached him about it and he told her that he liked her as a friend, but not as a lifelong mate.
The lady lark has never been the same. She flies further and further from her home each day. Every morning she finds a nice spot to sing her sad song to try and ease her pain. As the old crow was leaving the young lark the lady was landing gracefully in a low treetop to sing her song. Meanwhile…
